Brake Balance in Forza Horizon 6

Brake Balance

Brakes are where lap time is won and lost. Get the balance right and you can brake later and harder without the car snapping around.

Brake tuning in Forza Horizon 6 has two controls: brake balance, the front-rear split, and brake pressure. A front-biased balance prevents rear lock-up under heavy braking. Running brake pressure above 100 percent lets you brake later, which is where lap time is won, provided you are not locking up.

Brake balance

Brake balance sets how much braking force goes to the front versus the rear. Front bias keeps the rear stable under heavy braking, because a locked rear tyre is what spins the car.

Brake pressure

Pressure sets how hard the brakes bite for a given pedal input. Above 100 percent lets you brake later into a corner, which is often free lap time, as long as you are not constantly locking up.

Trail braking and rotation

Braking is not just for slowing down. Carrying a little brake into the corner shifts weight forward and helps the car rotate. A slightly lower deceleration diff lock and a small brake bias adjustment let you trail brake without the rear snapping.

Drift brakes

Drift wants the opposite of a race car. A rear-biased balance, as low as 45 to 50 percent, gives stronger rear lock-up to help initiate a slide on corner entry. Keep full brake pressure for control.

Frequently asked questions

What brake balance should I use in Forza Horizon 6?

A front bias: 50 to 55 percent front for RWD, 52 to 56 percent for AWD, and 55 to 60 percent for FWD. Front bias stops the rear locking up under heavy braking.

Should I run brake pressure above 100 percent?

Yes, on road builds. Pressure of 100 to 110 percent lets you brake later, which is where lap time is won. Back it off if you lock up regularly.

My car spins under braking, how do I fix it?

Move the brake balance further forward. A locked rear tyre is what spins the car, so more front bias keeps the rear stable.

What brake settings work for drift?

A rear-biased balance as low as 45 to 50 percent for stronger rear lock-up to initiate slides, with full brake pressure for control.
