What anti-roll bars do
An anti-roll bar ties the left and right wheels of an axle together, resisting body roll. Stiffen one end and that end gets less grip in a corner, which shifts the balance. That is the lever: a stiff front pushes the nose wide, a stiff rear brings the tail round.

Fix the end with the problem
This is the rule that saves most tunes. If the car understeers, do not stiffen the rear until the tail comes round, that just makes the rear nervous without adding front grip. Soften the front bar instead. If it oversteers, soften the rear.
- Understeer: soften the front bar two or three points.
- Oversteer: soften the rear bar, or add a touch of rear toe-in.
- Never stiffen the rear to cure a front problem.
